In 1994 Deputy Police Chief Tom Petrini said two dozen officers were assigned to escort them at a cost of between $1,200 and $1,500 each time. Apparently arresting hundreds of people at once, one night every month, was something police were not enthusiastic about. Certainly the time and expense of processing them through the courts would be in addition to the headache of booking them all at once and getting each in front of a judge.
